The Story of ZagamiLaw
The ZagamiLaw International Law Firm was founded in Rome in 2008 by Attorney Paolo Zagami, with a clear and strategic mission from the beginning: to provide international legal consultancy, initially focusing on legal and asset relations between Italy, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
2008 – 2011
In its early years, the Firm stood out for its international orientation and was nominated among the TOP 5 International Law Firms at the “Corporate International Legal Awards”, also receiving the title of Real Estate Law Firm of the Year in Italy. After its initial offices in the Flaminio district of Rome and in downtown Reggio Calabria, ZagamiLaw relocated to Via Cola di Rienzo, in a historic building in the heart of the capital.
2012
ZagamiLaw was selected among the top five law firms in Southern Italy at the Top Legal Awards in the category “Best Law Firm of the Year in Southern Italy”, standing out as the first international firm of significant size operating also in Calabria. In the same year, it opened international offices in:
· New York (Midtown Manhattan) with the firm Gleason & Koatz
· London (Finchley Road) with Notable Services
· Toronto with Hackett-Simpson-Tripodi
2013 – 2014
ZagamiLaw obtained formal accreditations from:
· The United States Embassy and the British Embassy in Italy
· The Italian Consulate in New York
· The Solicitor Regulation Authority and the British Law Society (no. 598033)
At the time, the Firm was the only practice in Italy officially appointed as trusted counsel both by the U.S. Embassy in Rome and by the Italian Consulate in New York.
2015 – 2016
ZagamiLaw became a Corporate Member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, with Attorney Zagami appointed as Regional Representative for Calabria. In parallel, two initiatives were launched:
· REAL – Real Estate Attorneys at Law, a professional network for legal experts in the real estate sector
· CESDI – Center for Studies in Private International Law, an observatory on cross-border legal relations
2017
The Firm celebrated the milestone of 600 private international law cases handled. The first client had been a British citizen purchasing a second home in Italy. In response to the firm’s growth, ZagamiLaw expanded: it left its office in Via Cola di Rienzo and opened two new offices in Rome:
· Via Crescenzio, a representative office with a view of St. Peter’s Basilica
· Vatican Museums area, the new main operational headquarters
2018 – 2019
On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, ZagamiLaw was once again a finalist at the Top Legal Awards among firms with offices also in Southern Italy. In the meantime, some international offices were restructured:
· Closure of the Toronto office
· New openings in Connecticut, Florida, and Singapore, in collaboration with Agnoloni Law Firm, marking a significant expansion into Asian markets.
2020 – 2021
The Firm opened its new main office in Piazza di Spagna, in the heart of Rome. During the Covid-19 emergency, ZagamiLaw was among the first law firms in Italy to activate a continuous operational task force, assisting clients with consultations on force majeure, contract renegotiation, and economic recovery.
2022 – 2023
ZagamiLaw fully embraced new digital standards for client identification and management. The post-Brexit landscape and the Russia–Ukraine conflict required a structural evolution: ZagamiLaw Network Service S.r.l.s. was officially established, the firm’s service company, operating in parallel to support the transnational and operational needs of clients.
2025
ZagamiLaw completed its transformation into a highly specialized law firm, focusing on assisting a select group of private clients and working alongside family offices in asset, real estate, and tax matters.
