Last November 18 at E ‘Hotel Reggio Calabria was held the conference “The Relaunch of Calabria in the European Union” in which it was shown that it is a fact as Calabria is unfortunately unable to deal with the changes taking place in international scenario and to fit profitably in value chains. In particular, within the European Union the South Italy has an income below 70% of the average of the other areas and the growth of Calabria was by far the most disappointing even when compared to the less developed areas of Europe. This involves primarily the need to redevelop the productive Calabrian by implementing targeted policies to the objective of competitiveness and initiate effective action for the promotion and attraction of productive investments.
The conference was attended along Attorney Paul Zagami and also, among others, the euro deputy Raffaele Fitto, the President of the World Foundation of Calabresi Giuseppe Galati, the President of the Foundation Magna Grecia Nino Foti, the Vice President of the Regional Council Alexander Nicholas and the President of Calabria UnionCamere Lucio Dattola. In particular, the Attorney Zagami pointed out that “Calabria has to focus on our major resources which are tourism, environment and technology. Certainly the economic period is very difficult but things change in a hurry, just think of the United States, where at the mid-term elections the Republicans have won against Obama. Calabria has short necessarily to expand its business when one considers that its exploits are for export only 0.1% of the national share while the Puglia accounts for 10.8% with the direct sale of its products. ”
